The design of the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities (BCF) combines modernism with the manner of bamboo structure system. The round-shaped columns, the rhythm of the tilted pillars , the trusses, and the bamboo-surfaced ceiling, all in a pleasant reminiscence of bamboo structure, form a ‘bamboo gate’ which floats gracefully on the Ocean along Hong Kong’s boundary. The overall structure is simple, clear, meaningful and yet provoking. It illustrates Hong Kong’s tradition while disseminating the history of Hong Kong. It denotes precisely the artistic image and significance of the Hong Kong BCF, exemplifying the trend and aesthetics of the 21st century, as well as making the journey crossing the boundary through the portal full of surprise, joy and pleasure.

B. Interpretive Plan - Oasis
An oasis was a wonderful and refreshing place one found during a long and rigors journey. Recognizing that the BCF is not a destination but rather a way-point, we have endeavored to create an attractive environment that is able to make a refreshing and pleasant impact on the travelers in the short time in which they will be inside it, while ensuring that the planning allows them smooth transit through the facilities without delay.
